It has never paid off for me. I have to carry auto insurance and home insurance and farm insurance but crop insurance has not been a good investment for me.Ed Winklehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07299533401041542458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6975161130020685883.post-72046799109482394712010-10-27T09:21:11.084-04:002010-10-27T09:21:11.084-04:00Wow, I would never farm without crop insurance aga...Wow, I would never farm without crop insurance again Ed. If the choice was between buying P,K and N and crop insurance, the crop insurance would win every time. You need a good crop insurance agent who can maybe fit coverage to your yields better. We have only got a "return" twice. I dont ever want to get a return on crop insurance,,,,,like getting a return on your home fire insurance. Better to pay and never use than to hope you collect.G Kelly Robertsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17181706888136434390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6975161130020685883.post-86726997980983060392010-10-24T05:30:49.646-04:002010-10-24T05:30:49.646-04:00You both got me pegged. I mean I have come a long way in many ways but I am still naive when it comes to letting the other guy get the best of me. If this is a ticket to heaven, I will take it.Ed Winklehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07299533401041542458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6975161130020685883.post-52269263031930915312010-10-23T11:00:39.638-04:002010-10-23T11:00:39.638-04:00You have been reading the lazy farmer again haven&...You have been reading the lazy farmer again haven't you?
We have used our crop insurance a couple times but we farm river bottom ground so all our eggs are in one basket-so to speak.
Sprayer complaints are universal. If hedging crops is anything like playing the stock market, it's probably best avoided by an honest man. I thought of putting a little money in the stock market a few years ago, but discovered that the best money was to be made using other people's money to buy and sell stocks that you never really owned at any point. That didn't seem like something the Lord would condone.

As for folks having no respect for property rights, anymore, I think that's part of America's entitlement mentality.Gorges Smythehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08777621500611603786noreply@blogger.com
